The original photographs needed little restoration beyond improving overall contrast. The real magic here was in uniting this girl and boy from separate photographs by combining elements from the photographs below. Special attention was given to matching the lighting between the two images. Creating a shadow behind the girl similar to the boy's shadow helped accomplish this. The children did not know each other when these photos were taken, but now they are a happily married couple and they have a photo of themselves together as kids.

The client whose photos these are wanted to have the girl and boy from the photos above placed together realistically in a single photograph. She found photographs of the children in front of similar backgrounds and with similar lighting, which simplified the process of combining them. Before putting the two children together, the boy had to be pieced together from two separate photographs of him. In one the boy's expression was good, but he was missing feet, while in the photo that did include his feet the client didn't favor his expression.
