Moss People Journal Entry 1
The following account is something I have felt compelled to share. It is huge, monumental, with profound implications to the natural sciences--indeed, for our very understanding of our world.
The other day I had been hiking through the Sitka spruce and redwood forest near the coast when I sat down to fiddle with my camera and have a bite to eat. All about me were moss-covered rocks, and I found one perfect to lean back upon--cushioned beautifully by its soft coat of thick moss.
As I examined the contents of my Nikon's memory card I was hit by a wave of dizziness and leaned my head back on the mossy rock to close my eyes. I think I slept, I am not sure, but I awoke with a clear head to the sound of whispered voices. A quick glance showed that ahead of me, seemingly a part of the rock facing me, a pair of what I am now calling Moss People was whispering. I could hardly believe my eyes.
Fearful lest I disturb them, I slowly aimed the camera I still held in my lap in their direction and, without daring to raise it to my eye, snapped the shutter. Instantly, the faces melted back into the rock!
My heart thumping, unable to know whether I had seen something real or imagined, unable to comprehend the evidence of my own eyes I sat stunned for several minutes. When I'd regained sufficient powers of reason I remembered that I might have captured the...creatures...with my camera! A quick check gave me physical evidence that I had not been hallucinating. I am here presenting my Moss People photograph to share with the world this amazing discovery.
